I've never done yoga. Am I welcome at Santosha Yoga?
YES! We encourage everybody to give yoga a try. There are no prerequisites for yoga, unless you have been directed by a physician to avoid physical activity due to injury or limitation. It’s also great to explore different styles, because we believe one compliments another, and you’ll get a lot more out of your practice.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes that allow you to move and stretch easily. Stay away from anything too baggy, as you will probably find yourself upside down at some point. Shoes and socks are not worn in class.
What should I bring?
For class you will need a Mat, towel, and water bottle. Mats and towels can be rented at the studio or brought from your own home. Many people also bring a change of clothes, especially for Hot classes.
Do you have showers?
Yes we have showering facilities. Please bring your own towels.
What should I expect on my first visit?
We strongly recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes early so you have time to sign in, change, and get settled. On your first visit, plan to come a few minutes earlier to fill out a waiver release form, sign in, and pay for class.
What hours is the studio open?
Each studio opens 22 minutes before class begins and closes 20-30 minutes after class ends.
What is yoga studio etiquette?
Please silence all electronics upon arrival to the studio and refrain from wearing strong fragrances or dangling jewelry. Keep conversations and movements quiet before class as people often meditate or rest until the class officially begins. Arrive at least 5 minutes prior to class time as the doors lock once class starts. If you are new to the studio, arrive at least 10 minutes before your first class. Move your mat as you see the room fill so that everyone has space.
